Well played, because I have NO idea what is going on with the Problematyc Weird Systers. Except for, like, y’know, Trouble. But, as you telegraphed in the Still to come, they are laying it on with a trowel. More than that, a livestock manure shovel.
Oh no! Ludmilla and Clotilde are using the old trick of the suspicious beverage on Penrose and he’s drinking it!? The poor Reverend is totally defenseless against the two witches, this is bad.
Or it could be good. Remember how upset Maggie was when the Reverend had to rescue her from her family? If Maggie has to rescue David this time, it could even the score.
On the other hand there might be a possibility that they might inadvertently discover the location of Rev. Penrose’s friend locked up in Tom’s dungeon. Ooh, then there would really be hell to pay.
Are the Problematyc Systers going to convince Reverend Penrose to commit regicide? Will we have to refer to this series as The Cornish Pla- I mean, Comic from this point on?
It’s remiss of me, but I’ve only just discovered this past weekend that J.A. has been burying a whole treasure-trove of extra comics from us on the Bad Machinery website, so I’ve been catching up on Solver and NEMS. Out of curiosity, where does “Author Unknown” fit in on Charlotte’s adventures on the Bobbins-Go-Days timeline, pre- or post-D-Slide? (Also, I bought the Steeple Summer Special today as well, and I’ll buy Steeple Vol. 1 once Dark Horse gets around to sending me a verification email!)
I believe “Author Unknown” falls, as in real-world chronology, between “Circus Windows” and “Spring Special”.
(See the link in my name for the overarching chronology, as best I can work it out. (There are places where I’m pretty sure it can’t be sorted out because of conflicting versions of events.))
I’m not sure. I haven’t had a chance to read it yet. It’s got to be before “Holiday Surprise”, because Shauna refuses to tell Lottie how it went, citing NDAs, and I’m guessing that Claire’s wig-blowing news at the end of “Circus Windows” was that Shauna was going to be on UK Bakery Tent, which would put it somewhere between those two stories, but I can’t pin it down more precisely than that.
It’s also my nickname for an ex-girlfriend (she was making bleating sounds when I first met her, which later turned out to be an imitation of Flipper, the TV dolphin).
I look forward to Maggie’s Mood Board!
Ludmilla seems to looking forward for it too.
I don’t know what’s in the Reverend’s hand but it does NOT appear to be a Warm Willie…
This is what happens when you blow several consecutive saving throws versus charismatic witchery. Slagged dice from Hell to breakfast.
He’ll need to burn that set.

The late Mr Clovis?
I’m afraid so. Good old Mrs. Clovis could have some hidden skeletons in the closet, for real not.

But what if talking with Billie will require hours and when Maggie comes back is too late?
On the other hand there might be a possibility that they might inadvertently discover the location of Rev. Penrose’s friend locked up in Tom’s dungeon. Ooh, then there would really be hell to pay.
“It’s my duty as a clergyman to sample as much peril as I possibly can.”
You’d think he learned anything from being around Maggie but he just *folded*
The Cover Art promised Brian. A Cheerful Brian. I think that needs to happen soon.
“IS THE BELL BROKEN?” (2023-11-24) looks like it might be a Brian entry line.
I don’t think it can be anything else!
Yeah… That’s major mismatch between task and skill set there, Maggie.
You go to war with the army you have.
She could have sent the Reverend upstairs after Billie while she stayed downstairs and kept an eye on the Problematyc Systers.
I think Billie really needs her best friend right now. The Reverend is an adult and he’s supposed to be able to look after himself.

Oh no they’re touching him.
And pouring him a drink.
Before he knows it he’ll have lost his trousers *again*.
He may have a weakness for redheads
The Rev is probably thinking that drink does not smell nice.
Drink it up Rev. What’s the worst that could happen?
I’m just admiring Maggie’s ability to make the “y” audible in those words.

Where is Solvers on Bad Machinery? I can’t find it!
All the Solver chapters are on the “Select Chapter” picker on the under the comic.

This is very impressive.
I get a little obsessive sometimes.
Where does The Great British Bump-Off fit in?

That’s terrific, thanks for your hard work!
Oh. My. G-d. Thank you for this!
I think “Goat Girls” is a more appropriate moniker.
Problematyc Goate Gyrrls
Excellent band name there. Something kinda techno-folk or something?
There’s already a genre Pagan Folk Music, which tends to have some techno or metal offshoots. Problematyc Goate Gyrrls would fit right in.
Goat Girl is/was a band! I believe I recommended one of their members, Naima Bock, in one of my end of year lists.

They are also on Bandcamp, and since they appear to be playing in London on the 25th, it looks like an “is” rather than a “was”

I swear Vengeance upon thee!
(But yeah, you can totally stay. Make yourselves at home. Seduce the man I’m pining for. Whatevs, luvvies)
Begone, vile temptress!
