Really feeling for Billie right now. This whole change has been both exhilarating and terrifying for her, and to learn it was all due to a hexing mishap. I’m hoping she can find some sort of middle ground or Maggie and the Rev can help her somehow.
Spectacular page, but Poor Billie. Surprising to see that Ludmilla and Clotilde would feel the need to apologize to someone. So even they can realize they went too far!? Interesting to find out another thing about Billie’s past. Pole vault? How cool!
No, they do things using magic and Mrs Clovis asked them to repair her destroyed vacuum cleaner. But even with magic it was beyond reparation, so they put an illusion spell on it, for make it look like new, plus that other spell.
In my hometown there was an old storefront establishment that advertised “Appliance Repair and Faith Healing.” I never imagined until today that there would actual be a need for such a service.
The Reverend is awfully mellow about the truth coming out regarding what happened to poor Billie. I can only assume that he’s still under the effects of that spell.
That first panel is amazing. That Mrs Clovis vacuum cleaner will haunt my nightmares forever.
There is something familiar about that art. I want to say John is riffing on some famous album cover, but I can’t put my finger on it.
Kind of like Krang from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Mrs Clovis is M.O.D.O.C.: Mobile Organism Designed Only for Cleaning
Reminds me of the smeary face behind David Warner in 1982’s “Tron.”
I’m kind of imaging this is the form Mrs. Clovis takes when she reveals herself to be a sort of “Biblically accurate Angel.”
Vacuums haven’t had a plot moment like this since “Do you expect me to talk?” “No, I expect you to die, son”
bazz – aaaargh!
i was getting extreme Face of Bo vibes from it
I’m getting Zordon from Might Morphin Power Rangers.
Mighty Morphin Power Cleaners.
The witches thought their spell would have no unintended consequences, but they should realize that nothing happens in a vacuum.
Their spellcasting sucks.
Well, now they’re hosed. These girls just have no filter.
Time to dust off all the old puns?
They’re all gonna suck, anyways.
At least these jokes are all clean.

It’s somewhat in character that they would think they could just say sorry about it.

O Great and Wonderful Clovis!
I was thinking Zordon but that works.
I should have scrolled down the page before posting my comment above. Great minds think alike. Also ordinary minds.
Ludmilla and Clotilde are in the appliance repair business? Well ok, maybe I’m prejudiced but I did not see that

Well, actually….
Ludmilla and Clotilde proving that the road to hell is paved with good intentions there.
What’s better, artificial happiness or genuine despair?
This must suck for Billie.
I see what you did there.
Yeah, I feel bad for Billie, but judging from that first panel, it REALLY sucks to be Mrs Clovis.
It took me no small effort to refrain from reversing the phrase.

Or he’s just letting her get out of the way before he goes all Exodus 22:18.
“Howwould a cleric develop such a strong core?”
“Pontius Pilates.”
OWOwowowowow!
Well-struck, old bean!
I get it. Clovis was supposed to think that vacuum cleaners were demonic, and avoid them. Instead…
Reminds me of one of my favorite Bad Machinery lines “That girl can really shift when startled.”
I was thinking exactly the same thing.
Are they sorry, though? Are they *really*?
