Used to be a right good laugh
Now, these were the two witches who replaced Brian’s werewolf power with the feral animal spirit of Jeremy Clarkson (seen in flashback in The Silvery Moon). So quite what moneyshines are going on in panel 3, I’m going to leave to you to work out. It’s probably nothing.
Perhaps what is manifesting is the “essence of man” as defined by Kelly le Brock in this 1992 Brut commercial. You decide.
Yow, Brut.
I’m very much enjoying Brut Week
Did Ludmilla just reverse the (partial) werewolf cure? Or, did she do something… worse?
I’m afraid she cursed him even worse.
Yes, it was a curse of worse.
Then we all must disperse!
Very clever verse.
She tersely reversed the curse!
…something, something ‘nurse’
Maggie’s still a right good laugh… once you get to know her.
And she doesn’t force anyone to eat onions.
I probably shouldn’t be admitting this, but “essence of man” instantly made me think of a different clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6caJjZstNoY
I was kinda thinking about the chorus to this: https://youtu.be/4Eo84jDIMKI?si=QmFlVuQVahcqHzDS
I had to look up Rentokil. I see that what they do is the same as what Daleks do.
Fail to climb stairs?
DALEKS CAN CLIMB STAIRS
“Real Daleks don’t climb stairs; they level the building.”
Probably the worst party Maggie has ever thrown. Everyone is unhappy, Penrose seems to be very angry, Brian is probably back to being a 100% werewolf and it’s not sure if Billie will stay in the Church of Satan or not. But Maggie worries about what Mrs. Clovis (probably a murderer) might think of her… What a weird situation!
At the very least I think Rev. Penrose is just overall unhappy with the evening and not at Maggie. I’ll be interested to see where a conversation between him and Billie ends up. I’m thinking tonight might end up unfortunately as an unexpected victory for Tom.
No, Rev. Penrose is definitely unhappy at Maggie in particular, that glower in the final panel is dead centre.
Given the next page is “pack a suitcase, write a note” followed by “one last time” I imagine that Maggie gets the sense of increasing hostility and feels she has to leave the parish and maybe Tredregyn altogether. In her absence, Brian reverts to being a full werewolf, and with Maggie no longer around to wrangle him (maybe Penrose is forced to slay him, even?), battle lines are drawn and that tees us up for the final story.
The page titles are often deliberately misleading, though.
Yes. “Pack a suitcase, write a note” was what Billie did when she left for the CoS. So this could be her or someone else talking about how she might leave the CoS now.
I thought more that Billie would be the one to leave and it was already bad. But now I’m scared for this second possibility too. Or maybe they will start a journey together?
Oh man, what an unexpected down note! At least Brian is going to stick around to help clean up.
He’s a right good egg once you get to know him
Better a down note than a brown note, I always say.
Typical party scene, somehow everyone has an excuse to leave when the cleanup beckons.
Everyone except Brian. Maybe that’s the actual curse.
The good news is, I’ve finally fully locked into my head which one’s Clotilde and which is Ludmilla!
Judge from what I could make out about the face, I think they’ve turned him into a weredeer.
That would be so cool!
I think it’s a wolf. Dog-like nose, long snout, sharp teeth.
Let’s hope that Brian’s existing full moon precautions remain sufficient to contain an actual werewolf
I think it’s a wolf too. But I want it to be a weredeer.
No worries. Brian will surely buck that curse.
Did they take the glamour off the Dyson? At this point, I think it’s their only Bobbins-verse accomplishments that they HAVEN’T given over this run!
Well, Brian is fixing Maggie’s cycle. Maybe we’ll see Maggie and Billie riding off together to make of themselves as they may outside of Tredregyn at the end of the comic?
They ride brooms! Did we know this already? Classic.
They arrived on brooms. Last panel here: https://steeple.church/comic/personal-puffery/
And 2nd and 3rd panel here: https://steeple.church/comic/to-die-from/
They rode them to the party: https://steeple.church/comic/personal-puffery/
Called it! Or part of it, anyway. The uncontrollable lupine stiffy returns!
