Succour
I don’t think Billie has gone full blood and thunder preacher. She’s just giving everything a go. Given the reception she’s getting, my suspicion is that she won’t be giving this particular strand a go much longer.

Billie knows her mind.
What more could anyone want?
Comfortable shoes for wide feet, for one. Sugar free chocolate that doesn’t cause wind, for another.
Loose shoes, tight parentheses, and a warm …. never mind
I’m glad to see Billie’s still got her courage, and is still motivated by compassion. I still feel she’s lost some of her ability to actually understand the people she’s trying to help, however. I’m also very worried now about Reverend Penrose, as it certainly sounds as if there’s no longer an official Church of England presence in Tredregyn.
Sorry, Billie. Belphegor’s the only demon prince for me.
I’m partial to Orcus, because if you kill him quick, you can get his wand with charges still in it, and his home level in Gehennom has an altar and abandoned shops that frequently have useful stuff in them.
Least favorite: Juiblex. Dude is entirely too hug-prone for someone made entirely of teeth, eyeballs, and toxic slime, and its home level is a pain in the butt to navigate. I once had to cross it with the Amulet five times. Also I always have to look up how to spell its name. On the bright side, it’s easy to kill, if you’ve got a wand of digging and a unicorn horn.
I’m more of a Lolth guy. Though she is vulnerable to an exploding Wand of Wonder.
Got to the end of your post before realizing how I’ve always said/spelled “Jubilex” is wrong
As Mr. Barnum used to say, there is succour borne every minute.
Billie’s gotten stern. Hope she hasn’t gotten so stiff that she’ll snap.
I wonder where Billie lives and how often she eats. Good thing Maggie insist to help her.
Billie’s currently living inside the soap box.
Well, at least it’s a clean place.
Soup, a small roll, and a piece of cheese works for me. Plus, if it’s not too much to ask, a small green leafy salad.

Biblical history time! The phrases Billie was preaching in today’s and Monday’s comics come from the Second Epistle of Peter, which was composed either by the apostle Peter or, more likely, one of his followers. The verses Billie has been preaching come from the second chapter in which the author warns about “false teachers” that have been leading the early Christians astray.
Balaam son of Bezer was a (non Israelite) prophet in the OT who was commanded by some of the Hebrews’ enemies to prophesy against them, but only received prophesies that spoke well of them. If I remember correctly, he refused to prophesy at all therefore, and his donkey spoke and rebuked him.
What an ass
Ironic, I’m sure, in that Billie herself was one of those “false teachers” herself up until recently.
I think Billie still wears the backless cleric collar dress, just has the yellow slicker over it.
Maybe she’s wearing two- one back to front, the other right way around.
I think that’s the slinky cassock she wore to Jason’s memorial. The BCJ is technically overalls.
I’m relieved Billie and Maggie are still friends. It’s starting to look like my hypothesis of Billie starting her own church rather than having returned to the Anglican fold May be showing signs of substance.
Me too. I see three possibilities here:
(1) Billie is being willfully ignorant of Maggie’s lifestyle.
(2) Maggie’s lifestyle has changed substantially (doubtful).
(3) Billy is fully aware of Maggie’s lifestyle and is giving her friend a pass (also seems doubtful).
Note: This is not me passing judgment on Maggie. This is me suspecting what someone now in the business of passing judgment would think about Maggie’s activities.
Has Maggie’s lifestyle changed that much? It certainly doesn’t seem as if she’s gone back to Tom’s lot. She isn’t unholy per se, she just isn’t… particularly holy.
I don’t think Maggie’s lifestyle has changed at all – and that’s OFFICIAL
THE LORD HAS SPOKEN!!!!
God be praised!
And there was much rejoicing. *cue Python animation* “Hooray.”
Or (4) your assumptions about precisely what things Billie’s now judgemental about are incorrect. Maybe she doesn’t have much of a problem with Maggie’s lifestyle- at least, not enough to really be a problem.
On the other hand, Billie currently seems to be having tremendous difficulty with her lifestyle.
“Difficulties with lifestyles” have been known to create wormholes.
I’m not sure how much Maggie’s lifestyle has changed but both she and Billie are very much disillusioned with COS and especially under Tom.
Billie’s come a long way from Non-judgmental Community Outreach. Now she seems to be judging everyone.
“We’ve found that Non-Judgmental Community Outreach wasn’t really working out, so we’re returning to the Church’s historical specialty of Highly Judgmental Community Outreach.”
Let’s remember thet they used to call her The poison Queen of Milton Keynes”.
Due to the similarity to my family name I looked up “Bezer” and found it is the name of a town which Moses had proclaimed a city of safe-haven for Reubenites and others fleeing those seeking vengeance for manslaughter.
Balaam was the son of Beor. He was a non-Israelite prophet with a definitely mixed reputation.
Of course, the CofE might do things differently.
See the comment by KMP, and the response from Garth T Ogle, above.
And I don’t think Billie’s operating officially on behalf of the CoE at the moment.
I thought Bezer didn’t sound quite right, but those ancient papyrii can be quite hard to read 🙂
“left the straight way”? More like Balaam, son of Bézier, amirite?

Oh, is that what it takes?
Steeple Forum points can also double as Bézier control points.
Bam, bam, Balaam
Whoa soapbox Billie…
Oh, if her loving Satanist parishioners could see her like this. In fact, I’d imagine that a few of them have already seen her like this, as will others. 😐
