Patience, patience, dear boy (CLOTTED CRIME CONCLUDES!)
Here ends Steeple volume three! We’ve reached the end of the material that will be collected in August ’22 by Dark Horse. I have a lot of prospective projects on my slate for 2022 (I’m writing this in early November ’21) so I’m not certain right now when we’ll be back in Tredregyn, but I have plenty more stories to tell from Cornwall, so I’m sure it won’t be too long. Thank you to Sammy Borras for her beautiful colours throughout Clotted Crime. And thank you to everyone who has kept the comments so lively. I hope to see you for the next thing.
Dun, Dun Duuun!

Thanks for the great story, John! And thanks Sammy for the colours.
To steal one of Mr. Allison’s old lines, I think we should be thanking him hard enough to register on a geiger counter.
Every bit of Clotted Crime was masterful and sets up Steeple for at least one more amazing story. I loved every bit of hating Tom Pendennis and Bob Warren throughout this thing, for their scuzzy Satanic ways, but the end experience was absolutely glorious.
Fantastic story! I can’t wait to see what you have next.
Kudos to Sammy’s colours! You can see how they tell the story on this page: the descent from the bright kitchen, the transition through the dingy stairwell and down into the dark, grim cell of Jason’s imprisonment.
Steeple just keeps getting better and better. Amazing. And Sammy Borras’ colors are spectacular.
Is that a secret passage with keyless remote entry?
Tom is not being slightly evil but turning out to be deserving of a butt kicking.
Messing with a lost soul is going to cost.
Tom’s been very evil before. Reread The Silvery Moon. Look at the way he treats poor Brian there, who’s the closest thing he seems to have to a (human, living) friend. He even sicks the Reverend on him- with an axe. Brian could have easily been killed. It’s amazing how forgiving Brian is.
Tom is probably a sociopath.
It’s so crazy how far in advance you work! Inspirational. I wanna be you.
Thanks for the page as ever… I’m left imagining the conversation you had with Dark Horse that allowed you to serialise this before they collected it! You’re generous to us ❤
Amstrad noodles! I shall live the rest of my days dreaming of tasting this fictional ambrosia…
They’re like ramen, but with more Sugar.
Every time I start to feel the slightest bit of sympathy for Magus Tom….
Considering who I thought had come to collect him, Jason is in as… good(?) a place he could be.
In a way.
So to speak.
I totally thought it was going to be Bob.
Well, more specifically, I thought the person was Bob’s mother. But, yeah – pretty much the same thing!
YEESS! It was Tom! What a wonderful way to end a story ♡! Can’t wait to read more in future about this amazing group of characters.
I wonder… Are Tom’s plans (that Jason’s important to) something he’s always been up to (as long as we’ve known him, anyway), or something he’s working on to counter Bob’s attempts at taking over? Or a little bit of both, maybe?
Jason may need David’s help. It would be a change for him, rescuing the sea people
It took me way to long to figure out that Jason’s trying to say “Tom” in panel 2. I think I need sleep.
Thank you. I couldn’t figure it out at all.
Murrr-gurrr. D-D-Daver and Turrrrrmmm.
Having, in effect, lost control of the church, Tom certainly didn’t waste any time finding outside interests.
Welp, my brief slightly elevated sympathy for Tom has sunk to a new low.
What does the Japanese on the ramen cup say? Anyone know?
I pointed the Google Translate camera at it and it got very confused, changing every few seconds, but from that and a little bit of looking at a table of katakana, I think it’s a phonetic transliteration of “seafood noodle”: SHI-FU-DO NU-DO-RI.
シーフード ヌードリ
シー SHI (long vowel)
フー FU (long vowel)
ド DO
ヌー NU (long vowel)
ド DO
リ RI
But I am absolutely not an expert on this.
I’m sure that’s right. I just copied it off a Cup Noodle.
I don’t speak Japanese, but I think it means ‘Not for human consumption’
This is just a phonetic spelling of “seafood noodles”. Try reading the characters quickly and you’ll see. (The last character is actually “ru”.)
Thanks for the confirmation, Dan.
STEEPLE has hit the heights this time. (Sorry)
Don’t stay away too long, please.
No more Steeple for a while? *snif* *snif* BLOOO HOO HOOO HOO….
Always here for the next thing, Mr. Allison. Thanks as always for showing us such a good time.
Don’t leave us here!
I found myself wondering what percentage of Tredgreyn’s population are members of Billie’s church and what percentage are members of Penrose’s and realized that I have no idea what the population of Tredgreyn is in the first place. Have we ever seen a “Tredgreyn: Population ___” sign for James Marsters to drive into, should the opportunity arise?
Welcome to Tredregyn: It’s Eviler Here
We know that the Church of Satan is by far the more popular church. Beyond that, I don’t know. I’ve been wondering about the percentage of Tredregynites who don’t belong to either church, myself.
As usual, I love reading this as a serial, John. And I love supporting your Patreon, because you bring me so much joy. Thank you.
AMSTRAD POT NOODLES
WHAT FRESH HELL
“Tom has a big hat somewhere” is what I’m getting out of this.
