Marmite personality
Tech specs were the clip-and-save biographies on the back of Transformers boxes. I consulted industry specialist Nick Roche on how to write the motto. “The vaguer the better,” he said.

Did Gareth provide them a piece of red plastic through which to read the graph?
Also, I wonder where “Marmite” ranks on the Charisma scale.
Marmite is yeast’s idea of having a good time. Open socks, whoever knocks.
My fellow USAians, just remember, looking at tat first panel, David is in the driver’s seat.
But presumably Gareth is driving. Hopefully, even, as it would appear he has not unfolded the steering wheel
Better Marmite than Vegemite?
Heresy!
Vegemite? In Cornwall? At this time of the year?
Please please make a whole series that us just Gareth and friends. Uh, unless he is going to be a regular on steeple. That would be fun too.
Dang, his ears go to 11, that’s impressive.
Indeed. It’s 1 more than 10.
As long as we’re using base 10, that’s right on the mark!
It’s right for every base above 1 (once you have at least 1 and 0 you’re set!)
“These Ears go up to 01011!”
“Why not just make it 01010, but make 01010 more sensitive?”
“… 01011 is 01 more.”
This is Britain. 20 shillings a pound, 12 pence a shilling, 3½ rundlets per hogshead. 10 is not an imperial number. Talk’st thou to me of tens? Thou art a traitor, off with his head!
Three teaspoons to a tablespoon; fourteen pounds to a stone; four rods to a chain; eight bits to a byte… Non-decimal systems are beautiful, even the newfangled non-decimal systems that are base 10.
Hey man, twelve is a great number! idk about 14, maybe sometimes you need sevenths
But judging from the end of the graph, Gareth turns into a lacklustre Enduro.
His Endurance is only a 3 or 4, though. His gas mileage (gas kilometreage?) must be awful. Like driving around a 1970s Lincoln.
It’s hard to tell. If you examine the chart closely, the graph goes down, seemingly randomly, between each pair of listed attributes, then goes back up to reach the value of the next attribute. The length of the distance between attributes isn’t consistent, either. So, it’s possible (though unlikely) that the graph could go back up out of view and hit the Endurance attribute at a higher point then you’d think. Still probably wouldn’t be super high, but might not be super low, either.
On the other hand, it looks as if the graph comes down to the same point between attributes, in which case, yes, looks like a very low endurance.
That’s what the ones on the old toy boxes do too. They’re all over the place. I’m very authentic.
You made me count the rows. 11 it is!
No one does 80s-style throwback comic ads and toy box specs like John.
“He can be relied upon to provide results when the chips are down.” If only Billie had known Gareth back in Secret Sentai! Actually, would https://steeple.church/comic/one-chip/ count as the chips being down or up?
This is amazing. Nobody does 80’s retro comics quite like Scary Go Round Press.
What is that pink glow emanating from the middle of the dashboard in the first panel? We know there’s no screen present. Is there a secret Tech Spec printer built-in?
I’m just so glad to see the Hyundai lustre is undiminished…
A screen has appeared from behind a hatch!!

Ah, I remember those graphs.
Does the Rev have his own “profile” from his army days? After all he was a Royally Sourced Tommy
Gareth is a real chatterbox. Dunno how much Penrose could appreciates his constant talk. Maybe it would keeps him company, maybe it will be just a nuisance. I think Billie might like him more.
Well it’s understandable. Gareth has been saving up all of his chatter for decades, and now he finally has a chance to let it out.
Billie : Gareth :: Dr. Who Companion : K-9
Maybe?
I have to say the Welsh valleys voice is quite well observed here
Reminds me of my Uncle Gareth of Treherbert, mind
Argh! Now I’m hearing him in the voice of Gwyn, the twitching/whistling Welshman (“Giving it leather!”).
Yeah! Hugh Pugh from Fishguard. There’s lovely.
I was born and raised in Wales. Our German teacher spoke German with a strong Welsh accent. I used to wonder about all those Welsh boys visiting Germany and wondering why no one understood them when they ordered a beer in German.
Better that than Frank Hovis :S
Frank Hovis is a LEGEND I tell you
Corporal in the Royal Welsh as well
Ah! Lovely to see the Tech Specs back!
God is not to blame for the Conservative Party. Or the Cornish constantly voting for them like FUCKING IDIOTS
