Wildly off beam: AUTHOR UNKNOWN CONCLUDES!
Well, there we go. Friendships made, issues resolved, worries flopping around at the bottom of the sea. For now. We probably haven’t seen the back of human-merman unholy chimeras. That was a new thing. Lottie and Shelley will now return to their respective corners of the Scary Go Round Cinematic Universe. Both have new stories in the works, keep an eye out for The Great British Bump-Off and NEMS pt 2: Darkest Timeline – most likely next year. A new Steeple story, picking up from “Christmas With Clovis”, will start on Monday.
F yeah! NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEMS!
Yes!! More NEMS!!!!
Yep. Lottie and Shelley are from the most calm and normal place… Nice end and very great story. BEST CROSSOVER EVER!!!!!
Perfect ending. I’m still hoping we’ll see more Tredregyn/Tackleford crossovers someday. Maybe Amy and Ryan could take a trip to Cornwall…
A horny Mrs. Clovis is a scary thing to contemplate.
I think the head massager incident in Christmas With Clovis is as close as we will ever get to seeing that: https://steeple.church/comic/is-it-for-the-garden/
I suspect that should any of the Steeple cast make their way to Tackleford (but who would ever want to see that, right?), they’d find it as off-kilter as Lottie and Shelley found Tredregyn. But I guess there’s only one way to know for sure…
I admit I have been assuming Lottie would be the main character in the next story, simply because it has the word “crime” in the title. Now it looks like she might not be in it at all. It’s a plot twist! (a plot twist that happened before any of the story or even the cover page has been posted! This has got to be some kind of record.)
NEMS! YES!!!!
Shelley, you MUST make the Beatles famous!
Hmmm. I wonder with whom Lottie is texting? A streak of white, mayhap?
I’d assumed a friend at home. Claire, Mildred, an as yet unseen pal…
I am beginning to ship Billie x Lottie very hard. Though I regard that ship with a good deal of trepidation.
An extremely entertaining entry! Loved the story!
Oh, are we going to see a return of Paul Hollywood to the comic?
Rumours abound
I could really see Paullywood with Gibbous Moon, now you mention it…
Well done as always John!! Best crossover ever with Avengers: Endgame coming in at a close second!
Nice Maserati Shelly’s got there, with its trident logo. And the trident is the symol of Neptune, Roman god of the sea. Coincidence? I think not!
John’s come a long way from the days of “I can’t actually draw cars” of Erin’s Fiat Panda in early Bad Machinery.
That Fiat was “faux-naif”, a style I have never worn well (i went and took the boxy cars out of Bad Machinery book 1 for print). I’ve been rendering cars with unneeded accuracy since the early 2000s. I believe the need to draw a car that looks like an actual car is a great failing of mine.
NOT a failing! The carefully accurate vehicles are but one of the many, many little extra-effort details that make your comics such a joy to read. None of them are “needed”, in the sense that you don’t NEED to create a great comic when a merely pretty good one would suffice, but I’m very glad you do it anyway.
How helpful of Tredregyn Tyres to have a big “Next Morning” sign when their premises form the background to a scene which takes place – we presume – the very next morning …
Cornwall is justly considered to be a world leader in the field of non-diegetic signage.
Perhaps it’s merely very vague opening time signage.
Closed now, open NEXT MORNING. Dreckly.
As those of us who have followed her relationships with Bruno and Tim over the years will know, that ‘horny aura’ comment is quite something coming from Shelley Winters!
“human-merman unholy chimeras. That was a new thing.”
Not to be all “acktchually” but isn’t that a pretty fair description of our beloved Desmond?
There’s nothing unholy about Desmond, he’s a very virtuous creation.
He’s too pure for this flawed, base world we live in.
Shelley’s not wrong. Steeple strikes me as one of the hornier works in the Allison oeuvre. Flip.
And Tredregyn bow has a town slogan. Welcome to Tredregyn: A slightly horny aura.
John, I’ve been going through a particularly crap time of late, and your comics bring a much-needed smile to my face. So thank you. 🙂
Seconded! These comics are a bright point in my life!
Sorry to hear that, Dan – glad I’ve been able to entertain you.
A whole bunch of invested, over-interpreting, wildly off-beam misfits! It is how we roll! Yeah!
Excellent tale. I would love to see more of a Lottie-Tredregyn crossovers. There are oh so many story possibilities.
That’s the main thing. 😉
That ending gave me a genuine chuckle (rare). Thanks Mr. Allison!
hey i found my way back here after too long away and really enjoyed this tale, thanks for posting!
Given how Shelley was just eyeing the Reverend, I don’t think it was just from Tredregyn…
It was very good to see Lottie again. Wonder where Shauna and the rest are these days?
