The pups of the past
The subject of Mr Clovis came up in Steeple issue 5, but Billie never dug further. I feel like Mrs Clovis’ back story is something we’ll get to eventually.

I’ve always thoughts Mrs.Clovis’ past would be secret and exceptional. a special spy in a foreign country or something like that. And in panel 4… is that a sculpture of Desmond’s face to as a child??? What is happening!
And Billie googles eyes are so cute!♡
It’s a Desmond Fishman toby jug. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toby_Jug
Looks like a Toby Jug collection I reckon.
I rather like Maggie’s jumper. If it were a little longer she wouldn’t need that mini.
(Oh my gods! Does anyone else remember the sweater-dress fad in the 90’s?)
There was one in the 80s as well.
I don’t specifically remember them from the 80’s, but I’ll take your word for it. I was in high school back then and all the girls were trying to look like Madonna.
It’s a romper, Douglas, a miniskirt that length would be indecent.
I thought that was the point of Mrs. Clovis’s earlier comment about being half-dressed on the bottom?
Well, don’t hurry on my account. I’m much more looking forward to the Reverend’s backstory. For example, was he already a killer when he entered seminary or was it seminary that made him a killer?
Hmm, I wonder if this works in this comments system… ????
I get the sense that Mrs Clovis instructed him in his violent duties.
The Rev’s backstory is worked out but I don’t know exactly where to fit it in to the comic. I might put it in Steeple x Solver.
This sent me down the rabbit for Doctor Syn!
I’ve never seen “Occupied/Vacant” signs on a bathroom (aka loo, WC, retrete, etc.) in a private residence, but it actually seems like a good idea.
Also like the Desmond Fishman-like Toby jug.
The Toby jug collection! *chefs kiss* Perfection.
My mom collected those when I was a child. Now thanks to this comic, I finally know what they were called.
I didn’t expect a strip so touching to begin with a flush.
