I gather this is the penultimate page? I want to express how much I’m enjoying Steeple. Having Maggie and Billie switch churches was a stroke of genius. They’re such great characters- I’ll miss them all when this story’s finished.
Tredregyn needs a Satanic Church. The witchcraft festival and local economy depends on it. Tom is an utter dick and unqualified to be the local cleric. Billie is the obvious choice. She’s GOOD at it.
Maggie looks so sad seeing Billie go away ♡. Steeple is a very good story. I love those characters and the ways they love each others. Billie is so strong and unpredictable. She has a point.

Not sure exactly what Mags’ final role will be.
That’s how I see the story playing out.

“I definitely have a plan-shaped hole in my life.” broke my heart just a little. Lovely coda, John.
I agree. This may have to become the title of my autobiography.
Aye
Anyone else fan-casting Steeple? So far I got Iain Glen as Rev. Penrose.
Nick Offerman with a bad Cornish accent for Warlock Brian.
Lol. Hard to think of anyone else fitting that role.
I had Zach Galifianakis with more or less the same accent, but am willing to compromise.
I was thinking Nick Frost for Warlock Brian.
Of course, that would almost REQUIRE Magus Tom be played by Simon Pegg.
If I may say, that is ONE HELL of a P’shaw!
Agree with every comment above. I also have a plan-shaped hole in my life.
Also, Gemma Arterton for Maggie, Claire Foy for Billie.
Ooh, great choices.
And I’m kind of think Christopher Eccleston for Tom.
That would be fabulous.
Consider this, Reverend Penrose: Having an ally in the opposite camp is a good thing!
But are we sure Billie will remain an alley? Thing can change.
Going forward, in the spirit of ecumenism, on nights of the full moon Brian could assist Rev. Penrose in dealing with the mermen.
