It’s easy to see what the difference between Maggie Warren and Charlotte Grote is. About 12 inches. Mrs Clovis reckons all Japanese cartoons are perverted. She thinks Yo Kai Watch is a major corrupting influence. She’s never watched it, but she’s sure.

I hope that you will have a little more sympathy for painted trollops on drug benders (real or imagined) than Mrs Clovis does. They need our understanding and our care, not quickly cast aspersions and scorn. Today’s comic is brought to you by Brasso.
There are few that Billie can’t charm, and Lottie is the kind of soul in need (the top of her head is literally smoking) who might just require a bit of B. Baker salve.
I was very pleased with Billie’s outfit in this story, the backless clerical jumpsuit (BCJ). A sort-of-cross between Fleabag and Hot Priest. It’s a shame none of my comics has ever become a cosplay staple because I do endeavour to give people plenty to work with. I’ll keep trying! I’m sure that, right now, someone out there is discovering the Magus Tom within.
There’s really nothing wholesome at all about this comic. The “brown note” is known to every schoolboy but I’m pretty sure it’s imaginary.
A genteel and relaxed page today, celebrating togetherness. Definitely not a carnival of awfulness. Side quest: find Eggsy!
Four comics this week as part 1 winds up, Mon-Thu, please do tune in. — Tom really isn’t very nice. He’s the unacceptable face of devil worship, as far as I’m concerned. Perhaps Reverend Penrose will bring the wind of change to Lottie’s fortunes, because she’s making a terrible hash of this investigation so far. I’ve not managed to find a reliable manufacturer of alien-head codpieces yet for the shop, but I’m sure we’ll be able to satisfy demand soon enough.
I have been waiting for this team-up for what seems like years, two characters who just look right when drawn next to each other. This might be the nicest page of Steeple there has ever been. The next page… could be even nicer. The page after that… maybe not so nice.
Lottie’s origin story is touched upon in a Bad Machinery case – comics that ran nine years ago, so I wouldn’t be surprised if no one remembers them. Two comics, starting here.
