Nut, boss?
Part 2 begins. And here’s another mystery for the Clotted Crime crew. But who are those women running the fruit and veg stall? They look famous! ITEM! Patreon subscribers ($3/mo and up) can read Clotted Crime pt 2 in its entirety here. ITEM! Colours for part 2 of Clotted Crime onward are by Sammy Borras. Sammy is a great colourist and illustrator whose efforts have saved me from, how can I put this… personal implosion.
This promises to be fun. I like it already.
There’s just something about getting to enjoy the Bobbinsverse at all that soothes my soul.
Indeed. Even in Steeple which is arguably the darkest themed corner of the Bobbinsverse, pleasantness persists.
You know, I’m not even sure about that.
The number of murders and attempted murders we’ve seen in Tackleford far outstrips those seen in Tredregyn, unless you count the merfolk as people.
The implications on that one for our beloved Reverend would be interesting, too.
Ah – Billie has gotten on the television gravy train!
And I see that Maggie has been strategically deployed for the camera!
Trying their best to look Devonian.
They’re trying to look like Devonians pretending to be Cornish. It’s a subtle difference, admittedly.
Though thankfully not as Devonian as the actual denizens of the deep, lurking off camera (for now?)
As long as they dollop their cream on first, I don’t care
I am impressed that the television people are defying the usual Distractingly Hot Girl trope by not removing Billie’s glasses.
They tried but decided it would be safer for everyone if Billie could reliably tell a courgette from a non-courgette. Remember the title page.
Actually, that’s pretty snappy writing for a nanas’ police procedural.
Wow… Thank you, Sammy Borras, for the colors and for preventing John Allison from becoming a supernova. Tom Pepperdine is very, very tall or it’s just an impression due to the camera? Maggie and Billie are doing a perfect part for them. Whoever did the casting knows how to do the job!
Extras? Or major roles? I guess we’ll find out soon enough… (My brother actually had a brief career as an extra on TV shows, some years back.)
Wow, wardrobe actually color- AND pattern-coordinated Mags and Bil. Stardom lies ahead!
Nuts? Why, yes. Yes I am.
So, does this mean Billie found gainful employment. Who this Greengrocer?
A fictional business.
Ah, not really “working” there, but we are seeing them “acting”?
Trying to decide whether there will be a real murder or just someone eaten by eldritch horrors
It can be both, you know.
People being eaten by eldritch horrors still is a homicide (although as I understand it England doesn’t count something a murder until the case is solved)
Doesn’t the legal definition of “murder” require that the person be killed by another human being, though? If you’re killed by a wild (thinks about what sort of wildlife they have in the UK) hedgehog, I don’t think it’s considered legally murder. Or does it depend on how quasi-human the eldritch horror in question is?
You want murders to be solved regardless of whether the culprit had telepathic gills or not.
Perhaps it might be counted as “Death by Misadventure”?
Eggo! Resembling a certain Christmas doll. And is that woman pointing at a pile of Tibkins?
The matching warm-up jackets is a nice touch, and I note that Maggie’s is open and armed for battle. Who would not succumb?
He went for Billie and NOT for Maggie, though she is flashing her groodies at him well a-purpose! The man’s got taste …
An Argument worthy to join “Ginger/MaryAnne” in the firmament of “Whozyafav” Choices! Maggie/Billie?
Yes.
I’m firmly on the Mary Anne side of the first question, but Billy is the kind of ingénue that doesn’t appeal to me for some reason.
On the other hand, for some reason a vamp isn’t normally my style but for some reason Maggie works for me.
Perhaps I’m getting old?
I prefer Maggie to Billie myself, although I preferred Rei to Asuka. I think I have a bias towards monsters and against female clerics.
Lovely to see Tibkins toys on sale on the tele. Think of the royalties!
I thought the deal was not to involve anybody’s peanuts?
Bob Cop cameo?
So Sam is officially on ‘Billie is best girl’ team, then?
But, did the girls give him lots of veggies because they think he’s cute, or did he buy a lot of veggies because he thinks THEY’RE cute?? My fanfics require clarification!!!
I’m pretty sure they gave him lots of veggies AND he bought a lot of veggies because it was in the script.
When a character in a move/show would do something stupid and my kids would ask, “Why would he/she do that?,” I would always answer, “Because it’s in the script.”
MOVIE, not move.
We need to be able to edit our comments!
Sam loved their produce — like those melons Maggie is showing him.
