Is there really a generation now who don’t know about Aleister Crowley? What do they teach in schools these days? (I’ve been to his house. It’s well creepy.)
Surely it’s a reference to Pratchitt & Gaiman’s “Bad Omens” — and the demon Crawly(the Eden snake) who became Crowley — or was it Crawley? He didn’t get a first name Aleister, did he?
I’m a minister and the first thing I saw was a tribute to Angelina Jolie’s “The Leg” with a dash of Jennifer Lopez’s “The Dress”. I’m not a great minister.
I drew October 19th’s comic today, and after redrawing a figure in one panel four times when the page was ostensibly “done”, and then fixing the many layers of colours on this complex file that I had now messed up, and setting the art on the lettered page again, and uploading it to the site, I noticed that I’d miscoloured something. I’ll fix the miscoloured bit now but will I ever re-place the art on the lettered page and upload? Probably when someone notices, 7 weeks from now.
One of the more exotic conspiracy theories I’ve ever seen (and with me, that’s actually saying something) involved the notion that Saint Nicholas only evolved in popular culture into Santa Claus because various Illuminati groups liked the fact that “Santa” is an anagram of “Satan”, and put out vast propaganda in order to effect the change.
Tom is either working on his Christmas “sermon” (or whatever the Satanists call it), or putting the finishing touches on his screenplay (a dark reboot of “Ernest Saves Christmas” if I’m guessing correctly).
Over the years (and at my age, there have been many of those), I’ve noticed an inordinately large percentage of comic/cartoon characters are left-handed (the baseball team in Peanuts being a notable exception).
Do know if there’s a reason for that? Is it somehow easier to draw someone doing things left-handed than right handed? Or maybe more cartoonists are left-handed (since the right side of the brain, which controls the left side of the body, supposedly also controls creativity)?
These are the things I wonder about.
BTW, this came to mind because in a recent Bad Machinery on GoComics, I noted Mildred firing a tomato left-handed.
I decided that Mildred would be left-handed, though you can probably find incidences where I forgot. I think I do generally draw people using their right hand by default, and wouldn’t just switch someone’s hands because the drawing was less awkward. It doesn’t come up very often – handshakes are the example I immediately think of.
I dare say that Billie did know Tom was there and, I would go even further to posit that she wasn’t actually sincere in her apology for the holiday decorations. I’m sorry Billie, you are normally a beacon of integrity and that is why I feel compelled to call this behaviour out. Loving the facial expressions.
It has some unusual perspectives. Maybe it wore out your brain before you got to the later panels.
Result is extremely pleasureable. You are the best colorer.
Ha ha, I built a 3D model to help me, otherwise it would have killed me. I still had to draw all those little window panes though.
I see Billie gets to be the Multiplied Man in the first panel. Very Futurist.
Tom has a point here. And in his long black cloak he’s really sexy and majestic. Billie seems to love trying to make him nervous.
By ‘Crowley’ does he mean Bob Crowley? Nice continuity!
Aleister Crowley. I was wondering how many of today’s readers would get that one.

You can go to his house?
Where is it?
I want to go to his house.
Bob Crowley and Tom would probably get on like a house on fire. Literally!
Bob Crowley was basically a parody of Aleister Crowley, wasn’t he? So it could be either, I guess.

Crowley
He was Anthony (pron. AnTony, not AnTHony – in the film, anyway – the book didn’t specify IIRC) J. Crowley, but the J just stood for J.
With his arms out, he looks like a cross. Intentional, I’m sure!
There were two versions of that panel. In the original, Tom’s arse is out, so it definitely got more godly.

The star on the tree made me think of Carl’s Jr.

I thought the same thing.
F-F-S! Pithy, Billie.
Does that stand for something? For f*ck’s sake?
That is exactly what it stands for!
That thigh-high split is a Christmas gift to nobody.
The cross on his necklace seems “standard” in panel 2, and maybe also in panel 3, before going pack to petrine format in panel 4.
Anyways Tom is right. Christmas is a celebration of greed, envy, and gluttony.
File that one under mistakes I spotted in July, fixed, and didn’t bother to upload the fixed version! Fixed now.
That seems like a very specific file. July must’ve been a tough month.

good job on that buffer!

And note that he’s left-handed. Very sinister!
I’ve got a question for John.

The Green Man granted her occasional ambidexterity! Backwards through time. Using the body of the four-dimensional king.
