Good idea! Billie seems to need some food. A little lunch, a chat with Mrs. Clovis and Reverend Penrose and she wil feel and think better! On the other hand, I kinda hope that after the prayer, getting close to the church has become impossible for her due to a obscure side effect/curse.
That look on Maggie’s face when she says “Ah” is priceless. Even having served Baphomet so long, this is uncharted territory for her and seems to sense that altruism is not really her former demonic entity’s thing. Actually all of Maggie’s facial expressions have been gold this run.
Letter slots in the door instead of an external box isn’t exactly common in my neck of the woods. But those I’ve seen have only had the metal covering that lifts and then it’s a slit to fit the mail through. I suppose insulation comes from a colder climate and needing not to let the cold in.
They’re standard in the UK; external letterboxes are very unusual except in blocks of flats. A kind of brush arrangement under the flap is pretty common, when it open straight into your hallway. Also makes it more difficult to peer through.
Billie is unclear on the concept of Satanism: “selfLESS” is bad, “selfISH” is good. Think of it as Bizarro-World Christianity. Hasn’t she ever seen any movies or read comics about deals with the Devil? There’s *always* a catch. Billie, this world was never meant for one as beautiful as you.
“Hasn’t she ever seen any movies or read comics about deals with the Devil? There’s *always* a catch.”
But stories like that aren’t about Satanists, just generic shmucks who think they can beat the system. “Do as thou will” means that if Billie wants to be selfless, she should do so. Unless I’m wrong. 🙂
“Penance doesn’t sound like a “do what thou wilst” kind of thing”
Unless that’s what you WANT. It’s right there in the mission[ary] statement. 😉
I think that’s supposed to be one of the underlying principles of Satanism, it requires you to THINK about what you’re doing with your life and whether or not that’s really what you WANT to do with your life. I think.
In contrast, Wicca’s credo is “IF IT HARM NONE, do as you will” (emphasis added), which requires you to give serious thought to how your actions will affect others. Ironically, even if Billie had kept that in mind, it wouldn’t have helped, because no matter how much she thought about what Baphomet would do, how could she have imagined that he’d do this? If he did it.
So there we have the Satanist, helping deliver the parish newsletter.
This doesn’t happen everywhere.
Why not? She helped to write it after all.
Or is Billie dropping off the COS newsletter (which obviously has better typesetting)?
Billie, there is no sin so great that you must return to Pixy Garage in atonement.
Who’s the Wilson listening in to our ladies?

Jeez! Billie better start reading the manual if she is going to continue to use the features of her new faith!
The manual’s not very useful. It just says, “Do what thou wilt.” That’s the whole of the instructions.
The really useful stuff is in the 660-odd-page user agreement she clicked through when she signed on. As they say, the devil’s in the details.

Until today’s strip, the concept of letter slot insulation never even occurred to me.

So Baphomet’s a jerk, that’s not BILLIE’S fault. 😐

To be fair, without the authorities regularly attempting to help good and punish evil, most people will not be able to tell the difference.

She tried:
“Oh shit. *Disclaimers*”
But only got as far as “The work shouldn’t involve anyone’s snoopy unless that’s 100% what they want”
Lawyering is not really her thing.

Does Baphomet even recognize penance? Penance doesn’t sound like a “do what thou wilst” kind of thing. Then again, maybe he LIKES guilt…

I’m not sure it’s Baphomet (or even Satanism) Billie feels she owes penance to. https://steeple.church/comic/bwaak/
