“So, grampa, when they decide to create a Nobel Prize for the most artful use of tinned beans in a webcomic?” “‘Twas during the great pandemic of two-ought-twenty…”
False witness! Betrayal! And the temptress has induced the Reverend to fall into the same sin himself!
Dark days in the House of the Lord. Mrs. Clovis is going to have to cross-train with the national football team just to develop the stamina for the tongue-lashing she’ll want to deliver.
Lorraine looks like a terrible enemy… she will destroy that church one day. The Can driver Santa is both brilliant and the craziest excuse ever made. Billie is awesome! Can’t wait to see what she will ne able to do in future.
I have been reading these comics a long, long time, and I must say there’s nothing more menacing than an angry old woman in a John Allison comic. I predict mischief at a minimum, wanton loss of life a definite possibility. Pray to all your gods for our young curate here.
Because she’s an ordained priest, tuzda. In the Church of England (aka the Anglican Church), curates are often (as here in Steeple) assistants to more senior priests, and the Church has been ordaining women as priests routinely since 1994. (For that matter, we’ve had female Bishops since 2015. [I say “we” because I’m both English and was christened CofE as a baby, so I have a legal right to be considered a member, although in practice I’m actually an Eclectic Wiccan.])

Clovis is pro-can drive though, she’s sanctimonious but good at heart. Unlike la Lumsford.
Loved it when you drew her in riot gear fighting the dark merfolk!

I’m still waiting for the triumphant return of Morag!
Alxolomodimaprimil protect her! She’ll need it.
Oh Billie, you genius!
Why is she wearing a priests collar?

Billie demonstrates her continued allegiance to the Prince of Lies.
In all fairness, Lorraine lied about the reason for her visit on her previous visit.
Indeed! A seething den of iniquity. A wretched hive of scum and villainy!
Ouch. My hand hurts just looking at that last panel.
Love Billie’s strategically placed cans in panel 1.
